Color wheel

Interactive color wheel for complementary, analogous, triadic, and other color schemes. Switch between the artist's RYB wheel and the RGB wheel.

How to use Color wheel

An interactive color wheel for finding colors that go together. Drag the markers to explore complementary, split complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic, square, compound and monochromatic color schemes, then copy the hex codes or export the palette.

Artist's wheel or digital wheel?

  • Artist's wheel (RYB) — the traditional red, yellow and blue wheel taught in art and design. Complements are red/green, yellow/purple and blue/orange, which usually look more natural.
  • Digital wheel (RGB) — the hue wheel used by screens, CSS hsl() and most color pickers. Complements are red/cyan, green/magenta and blue/yellow.

Tips

  • Drag the large marker to move the whole scheme; drag outer markers to widen or narrow the spread
  • Distance from the center sets saturation, and the slider sets brightness
  • Type a brand color into Base color to build a scheme around it
