How to use Vectorizer

Vectorizer converts a PNG, JPG, or any other image into a clean, scalable SVG vector. It is built for logos, icons, illustrations, clip art, signatures, and line art: it finds the real colors, traces every shape with smooth Bézier curves and sharp corners, and gives you a file you can scale to any size without pixelation — all in your browser, with no upload and no sign-up.

How to convert an image to SVG

  1. Drop, paste, or choose an image — PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, TIFF, HEIC, ICO, SVG, or the first page of a PDF
  2. Pick the image type: Logo / icon, Illustration, Black & white, or Photo
  3. Drag the compare slider and zoom in to check the edges; adjust colors, smoothing, and corners if you like
  4. Download the SVG, or export PDF, EPS, DXF, or a high-resolution PNG

Why the results look clean

  • Automatic color detection — anti-aliased edge pixels and JPEG noise are ignored, so a three-color logo becomes three colors, not thirty
  • Sub-pixel tracing — small images are upscaled before tracing, so even a 48 px icon or a blurry screenshot produces smooth, accurate outlines
  • Truly straight lines — each edge is tested statistically to tell a straight line from a gentle curve, then fitted to the image's anti-aliased edge pixels for sub-pixel accuracy, so a straight edge becomes a single exact line
  • Real corners and curves — corners are placed where the edges actually meet (even sharp spikes and shallow angles), and curves are fitted with as few nodes as possible
  • No gaps between colors — shapes are stacked so each color sits on solid color, with no white hairlines between them. Choose Cutout if you need shapes that never overlap; thin same-color strokes underneath hide the seams there too
  • Denoise — an edge-preserving blend smooths JPEG noise and grainy scans before colors are matched, while edges stay sharp
  • Speck removal — dust, compression artifacts, and stray pixels are merged away

Edit the result

  • Click a palette swatch to recolor it, or × to merge a color into its neighbours
  • Set the number of colors yourself, let it auto-detect, or pick the exact colors from the image — every pixel is matched to the nearest picked color
  • Make a grayscale vector, or export outlines only for cutters and plotters
  • Tick Remove background for a transparent SVG logo
  • Fine-tune line tolerance, shortest line, curve smoothing, corner sensitivity, and color merging — every change re-traces instantly
  • Snap line angles to exact horizontal and vertical (or 45°) — ideal for scans and photos of logos that are slightly crooked
  • Use Outlines view to inspect every path, and One path per shape for easier editing in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma, or Affinity

Popular uses

  • Recreate a logo as a vector from a low-resolution PNG or JPG for print, signage, and merchandise
  • SVG cut files for Cricut, Silhouette, vinyl cutters, and laser engravers (DXF export for CAD and CNC)
  • Screen printing, embroidery digitizing, stickers, and t-shirt designs
  • Crisp SVG icons and illustrations for websites and apps
  • Turn a scanned signature or hand-drawn sketch into black-and-white vector line art

Private by design

Unlike Vector Magic, vectorizer.ai, and other online vectorizers, your image is never uploaded. The tracing engine runs on your device, it is free with no watermark or credits, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

Photos can be vectorized for a posterized, illustrated look, but vectors are best for flat-color artwork — a detailed photo is usually best kept as a JPG or WebP.

Logo on a busy photo? Cut it out first with the background remover. Need pixels again? SVG to PNG renders any SVG at any size.

Vectorizer FAQs

How do I convert a PNG or JPG to SVG?

Drop, paste, or choose your image. Vectorizer detects the colors and traces every shape automatically in a few seconds. Check the result with the compare slider, then click Download SVG.

Is this vectorizer free?

Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark, no credits, and no limit on how many images you convert.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The tracing engine runs entirely in your browser, so your logo or artwork never leaves your device. It keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

What is the best way to vectorize a logo?

Use the largest, sharpest version of the logo you have and keep the Logo / icon setting. Colors are detected automatically; if two shades were merged or a stray color appears, set the number of colors yourself or click × on a swatch to merge it away. Tick Remove background for a transparent logo.

How do I make the lines perfectly straight?

Straight edges are detected automatically and fitted as single lines. If a straight edge still comes out wavy, for example in a scan or a JPG, raise Line tolerance under Straight lines. Choose Snap line angles to make nearly horizontal and vertical edges exactly level, which also squares up slightly crooked scans.

Can it vectorize a small or blurry image?

Yes. Small images are upscaled before tracing and anti-aliased edges are traced with sub-pixel accuracy, so even a 48 px icon or a low-resolution logo turns into smooth, sharp vector shapes.

Which file formats can I convert?

You can upload PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, TIFF, HEIC, ICO, SVG, or a PDF (the first page is used). You can download SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF, or a PNG at up to 8× the original size.

Can I make SVG cut files for Cricut, Silhouette, or a laser cutter?

Yes. Download the SVG for Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio, or DXF for laser and CNC software. For single-color cuts choose Black & white; choose Cutout under Shapes when every color must be a separate piece that does not overlap.

Can I convert a photo to a vector?

Yes, the Photo setting turns a photo into a posterized, illustration-style vector with up to 64 colors. Vectors suit flat artwork best, so photos lose fine detail and gradients.

How is this different from Vector Magic, vectorizer.ai, or Illustrator Image Trace?

It gives the same kind of clean color tracing for logos and graphics, but it is free, needs no account or software, and processes the image privately on your own device instead of uploading it.
